5The main character, a boy, goes out to a small island almost directly in the center of a lake by his new home where he doesn't have any friends yet. While he is out there he draws and paints. A girl comes, and he becomes friends with her. Back in civilization, people find out about the fact that he's by himself on an island. News reporters come to interview him and everything changes.
This book allows the reader to get into all of the boy's emotions and everything he thinks. He experiences new things and learns new things about himself and life.
