Early access to braille books is critical for their educational development, self-confidence, and future opportunities. Most printed books are unavailable in braille, resulting in thousands of children with visual impairments facing significant barriers to literacy. That is why Seedlings works tirelessly to produce and distribute braille books, ensuring that all children can discover the world of reading!
For over 40 years, we have empowered young readers by making the joy of reading available to them in braille at little to no cost. But we cannot do it alone. We continually seek support from foundations, grants, and philanthropic organizations to expand our efforts and reach more children with vision loss across the country. Your generous contribution will directly impact the lives of thousands of young readers by helping us:
- Produce new titles: Each year, we strive to expand our collection with new, engaging books that cater to a variety of reading levels, for ages birth-21.
- Distribute books at little to no cost: Through our free braille book programs, we ensure braille books reach children and families at no cost to them. We sell the rest of our braille books at an affordable average of $10 or less per title.
- Foster early literacy: By making braille books accessible at an early age through our Braille 4 Beginners Program (B4B), we are laying the foundation for future academic success, enhancing literacy skills and fostering a lifelong love of learning.
