From the beginning, Seedlings’ work has always been based on a belief in the value, dignity, and equitable rights of all people. Our mission prioritizes opportunities and education for children with vision loss, but we also strive to recognize and uplift the strengths and uniqueness found across human diversity.
An important step in this commitment is the transcription of relevant, high quality children’s literature that promotes equitable themes like peace and justice with positive portrayals of people from different backgrounds, identities, ethnicities, and abilities.
We pledge to continue to highlight and promote books that foster understanding, and to research and add more diverse, educational titles. Seedlings wholeheartedly believes these books have the power to place the proper “seeds” into the hands of children, helping them flourish and grow into understanding, capable, and empowered people.
